Lengths of Trip: 7 , 10 days and private charters for longer Boat Types: Power or Sailboat Port of Call: Nadi or Suva (Pacific Harbor) Overview Fiji is comprised of over 300 islands in the Southern Pacific Ocean. This island nation is truly a tropical paradise with friendly locals, interesting culture, and breathtaking scenery. Located close enough to North America it is possible to go for a week, but once you are there you will want to stay much longer. Waves Almost all of the breaks in Fiji are reef passes. This reality makes for a diverse assortment of waves for all skill levels. There are challenging waves for the hard charger and less intimidating breaks for the more modestly keen surfer. Charters can mix wave qualities and types to fit the style that you are interested in. Our charters seek out the more isolated waves and environment to escape the normal, more pressured surf scene in Fiji. There are also the less explored areas of Fiji if you are looking to find waves off the beaten path. Since the opening of the surf decree, we are able to access areas previously off limits. This includes the more popular waves such as Cloudbreak to lesser known breaks in more isolated areas. Season: There are different times for swell in Fiji. Given that Fiji is an island chain swell can come from anywhere. The swells from the South that have made waves like Cloudbreak famous occur from April-Oct. On the other side of the chain you can receive swells from the North from Oct-April. Fiji has tradewinds that generally blow strongest during the months of June-July-August and come from the SE. Boats: We have relationships with a wide variety of boats to fit the size charter you are looking for. By boat is a great way to see Fiji as you can see many different islands, surf less crowded waves, and move to find better conditions if needed. From the solid boy’s trip to the most plush modern watercraft TPX has you covered in the Fiji. Other activities include: Diving: Fiji is home to some of the world’s clearest waters and has significant fish life. Diving in Fiji is an experience in itself and should not be missed. Many of our charters can be equipped with dive options for an additional fee in most cases. Culture: Fijian culture will permeate your pacific island experience. Warm smiles and a loud “Bula” is the locals welcome as they greet foreigners with open arms. Traditional kava ceremonies are still part of tribal village life and continue to unite and bond participants. A boat trip will allow you to experience life outside the main island of Vita Levu and get a true taste of Fiji. Snorkeling: Most of the island sea creatures lie within the first 30 feet of the surface. This allows for top down viewing and creates an appreciation for the action above the ocean. Kitesurfing: Fiji can have consistent wind in Southern Hemisphere Winters and can be a great place to pick up or hone your kite surfing skills. Mornings are often glassy with the trade winds picking up in the afternoon. Trades blow side to side off at many of Fiji’s breaks making for exceptional kite-surfing potential. |
