Activities and Services
Should you want to take a break from the surf, feel free to wander down the empty beach where the tranquil Indian ocean laps up against white sand. Go for a solo swim at the end of the sand spit. Take a leisurely hike on Telo Island, through the bustling village past smiling, friendly locals and around to the lush, green North Sumatran vegetation on the undeveloped back side of the island. Sit back in a comfortable beach lounge and read a book as you enjoy a cold beer or a fresh fruit drink. Do anything. Do nothing. Health Treatments There are massage treatments to soothe the active body and mind. TIL also offers preventive maintenance to help you take advantage of your full trip, or recover from an injury. Or just relax and take a surf session off. The multiple decks and empty beaches create perfect opportunities for low-impact exercises such as yoga or light resistance training. If you require one of the traveling exercise kits, please let us know upon booking. Guided Translation Service Since surfing is truly a universal language, TIL has formed a partnership with a leading translator guiding service available to our guests upon request. The translator will accompany your group for the length of the trip. Please inquire about pricing upon booking. Eco Excursions If you’re keen to explore the island, there’s a variety of options: visit an ancient mangrove forest, explore island terrestrial caves or volunteer in the village school for a day. Just let us know and we’ll arrange everything. Fishing At Telo island lodge they take their fishing seriously and offer everything from light game fishing (targeting species such as Sail fish, Spanish mackerel, Wahoo and Tuna), to popper casting (for GT’s) to regular trolling that gets results with everything from Coral Trout to Tuna. They also occasionally bottom fish for various cod species or hit the mangroves to do some light spinning for mangrove jack. They have an extensive range of gear and lures, but if you prefer to bring your own equipment, please feel free to do so. SUP Whether you’re a dedicated enthusiast, an opportunistic part-timer, or a curious first-timer, you’ll find the friendly, un-crowded waves are ideal for stand-up paddle-boarding. Bring your own equipment or use theirs to catch a few waves or simply gaze down at the reef through gin-clear waters. A full lap of the lagoon in the late afternoon with an outgoing tide is a trip that will stay with you forever. Snorkeling With good coral reefs and a limited commercial fishery, Telo Island is a snorkeler’s dream, and some of our less-known locations boast everything from giant napoleon wrasse to small dwarf angel fish. TIL will supply all the equipment you need. |
